About us

Northern Europe’s leading satellite operator.

Connecting people and industries across space and on Earth.

Space Norway delivers secure, reliable connectivity through multi-orbit satellites, subsea cables and ground infrastructure. As Northern Europe’s leading satellite operator, we provide critical connectivity services across Europe, the Arctic and Antarctic regions, the Middle East and Africa.

Our roots lie in Norway’s pioneering use of satellites for the benefit of society. In 1974, Norway established the first domestic satellite system in Western Europe, a milestone that helped shape a lasting legacy of innovation.

Building on that legacy, we harness space to protect, explore and enrich our societies. Working with partners to meet both civilian and defence needs, we advance innovation and expand the possibilities of space.

Space for more.

Space for tomorrow.

Strategic infrastructure for a secure tomorrow

Space-based infrastructure is essential for sovereignty and vital services. As a state-owned enterprise, we develop and operate security-critical infrastructure in areas where the Norwegian Government requires control and supervision.

This includes the subsea fibre cable system between mainland Norway and Svalbard, which has brought new business and real benefits to the Svalbard community.

We work with the Norwegian Armed Forces, the Norwegian Space Agency, the Norwegian Coastal Administration and the U.S. Space Force, among others.

Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT)

Space Norway owns 50 percent of KSAT, in a joint venture with Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace. KSAT is the world’s largest supplier of ground station services for controlling and downloading data from satellites in polar orbits.
