THOR 10-02

Launched in 2004, the THOR 10-02 satellite provides Space Norway with excellent regional coverage over Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.

Due to satellite’s optimal health and continued benefits to customers its operational life was extended through the services of the MEV-2 (Mission Extension Vehicle).

Space Norway and Intelsat pioneered commercial on-orbit servicing of an active GEO satellite, achieving the first such mission in 2021 with Northrop Grumman’s MEV-2. Initially contracted for up to five years, the service has been extended due to the high-quality performance of MEV-2.

This satellite serves Space Norway’s maritime and land-based sectors and offers on-demand capacity to Occasional Use clients.

The satellite is operated by Intelsat.
